When visiting San Francisco these last months, I was kindly invited to take part to the Searle in America project, a retrospective exhibition of Ronald Searle's work on the West Coast that should take place at the Cartoon Art Museum in SF this fall.

I've contributed with an original drawing which is now for auction on ebay.

It's been ages since I've drawn from life + and on paper + and that any sketches ended up here! Here you gooo!

For those who were asking, here's my process for this image :

1 - I start by doodling what's on my mind, how I feel, without thinking too much.
I usually don't like showing my sketches because they're very ugly and dirty most of the time.
But well the important thing is the ideas they inspire me afterwards.

2 - I chose to develop this little poop in the corner of the page because I found the posing was funny, stupid and sensual at the same time.
I like this combination.

3 - I isolate the sketch on a new document, enlarge it and rework it refining the shapes, detailing the expressions.
So it usually takes another rough drawing at least before I clean it.

4 - When I'm happy with the line version, I experiment with the colors in Photoshop. It's another long and hazardous process.
But I can't show you the process for the color because I suck at color! ^^

And voilà! Drunk and sensual, that's how I like my women!

When this happens to me at the very beginning of a tight schedule project!... ;_;

I got so used to draw on my tablet I really panicked. I've made it though, the traditional way (cheap paper and dusty scanner).
And finally after all the work has been handed, yesterday I received a brand new ac adapter as my Asus luckily was still under guarantee.

Crazy last 10 days! @_@

But one of his composition that truly makes me wanna burst into tears is from the movie La Chèvre (last link below again) that I haven't seen.
